Stylumia + 1% For The Planet | Changing The World One At A Time

| 2 min read

Sustainability remains a top priority for Stylumia and our commitment has never been stronger. We exist to minimize wastage in the retail industry by minimizing guesswork through consumer-driven informed decision-making. Fashion is where we started and the industry is just next to oil in terms of carbon footprint. As we work to increase our role in climate impact, Stylumia  + 1 % for the planet as a member help broaden our impact to support organizations working on climate change.

Status Quo On Donations To Environmental Causes

In 2002, the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, created a non-profit corporation to encourage other businesses to do the same.

Currently, only 3% of philanthropic donations go towards environmental causes. Three. That’s a really, really small number. Interestingly enough, we can make a huge impact on that small number with an even smaller number: 1%. That’s where 1% for the Planet comes in.

What Is 1% For The Planet

1% for the Planet is a member-based nonprofit organization where businesses all over the world commit to donating 1% of their annual sales — not profit… sales! — to environmental nonprofit organizations. These organizations work on issues that focus on bettering the planet like climate advocacy, food policy, wildlife restoration, and much more. Through active and engaging partnerships between businesses and nonprofits, this global network puts its money where its mouth is.

This means consumers and businesses do, too. Every time an individual/business buys a product that sports the 1% for the Planet logo, a portion of that product’s proceeds go towards protecting and rejuvenating Mother Earth. Stylumia’s 1% of sales will be given towards protecting and rejuvenating Mother Earth.

Stylumia + 1% For The Planet

Building a company with environmental integrity started when United Nations spotted us as one of the circular change makers. Since then we have had a deep purpose in Stylumia beyond business effectiveness. We have taken an intentional decision to create a company that lives and inspires others to live in balance with nature. Our solutions fundamentally remove wastage from the retail business thus a prime mover of economic sustainability.

What Can You + 1% For the Planet Be

If you’re a business owner (or have any influence over your organization), please consider becoming a member of this socially and environmentally progressive group. By contributing 1% of total annual sales to grassroots environmental groups, members of 1% for the Planet affect real change. And members receive other benefits: The satisfaction of paving the way for more corporate responsibility in the business community and the recognition, support, and patronage of conscientious consumers who value serious commitment to the environment.

Optimizing Price and Margin with Retail Game Theory

| 7 min readIn today’s hypercompetitive retail environment, margin erosion is often not the consequence of declining customer demand but the result of strategic missteps. One of the most insightful models to understand these dynamics is the Prisoner’s Dilemma, a classic framework in game theory. While originally rooted in abstract economics, the Prisoner’s Dilemma manifests everywhere in retail: […]

The Color Prediction Paradox: How Demand Sensing is Revolutionizing Color Strategy

| 9 min readThe color prediction paradox is the trap brands fall into when they try to lock next season’s “winning” colors too early, using top‑down palettes and supplier‑friendly signals, only to discover that real consumer demand moved elsewhere. Three forces make this paradox durable: lead‑time bias (announcing colors 18–24 months ahead), context variance (color meaning flips by […]
