Fashion Trends you cannot afford to miss
So what’s new this season? Well, one-shoulder dresses, animal prints, checks & plaids, fringing, mesh and lace inserts, capes, over-sized silhouettes, pantsuits, silver, sequins, metallic, tropical prints, vintage flowers, printed tees with logos, head-to-toe looks, long jackets, rebellious patterns, and blazer dresses. The key to fall 2018 fashion lies in going full scale on trends from A/W 2017. We mean, 2017 trends continue to rise and are going to be much more powerful than ever before. 2018 calls for mega layering; layers + layers + layers! Even the sleek and slouchiest styles are structured and tailored to perfection. Critics would agree, it is spectacular to see draping techniques being incorporated into fall silhouettes using a mix of heavyweight fabrics like tweeds and corduroy with lighter sheer fabrics. In short, this season it’s all about comfort, fun, color, experimentations, individualistic and statement styles. We compiled a list of the top 5 fall 2018 trends you cannot afford to miss;
Pantsuits are a hot trend to pick as they allow for fabric, print, fit, silhouette and color experimentations. Erdem’s glittering black pantsuit with a white shirt had an alluring contrast. Loewe’s version was rather slouchy with huge bucket pockets and contrasting piping. Off White played it well with all over plaids pattern, sharp lapels and double-breasted blazer balancing it with a loose fit trouser. Giorgio Armani’s is for those few who love colors no matter what! Think of head-to-toe styles in metallic fabrics, tweeds, printed jacquards, and cotton-wool blends.
Oversized is an understatement this season. It’s not just oversized silhouettes of jackets, coats, trench, and belts, it’s much more…even belts, collars, lapels to underskirts, prints, and patterns. Think of it as a practical trend as it allows for more layering opportunities.
3. Checks, Plaids, Grid
Checks, plaids or grid, are a must have them in your collection this A/W 18. Play with macro checks, micro checks, colorful plaids, and even Tartan inspired patterns with checks, plaids, and grids like Versace. Blazer dresses, pantsuits, skirts, trousers, even helmets (like Versace) the possibility is immense. We love the animal print boots that Rochas and Sacai used to style the looks.
4. Long Coats
Long coats of corduroy, suede, leather, glossy, printed velvet (better be leopard on your mind), shearling, and tweed. Solid colored coats in shades of brown are a blockbuster trend (even for men!!!). Leopard printed gloss leather coats and plush coats made from velvet+ shearling combinations were a hit at Givenchy, Marni, and Micheal Kors. Chanel’s vintage floral coat with contrasting long lapels is a statement style. Designers added in a belt to convert long coats into dresses and the catwalks were flooded with many such interpretations.
5. LBD: Leather Black Dress
The regular little black dress got a stylish upgrade, introducing the A/W 18 version of the LBD- Leather Black Dress. Isabel Marant did it the best with interesting sharp draped versions, especially the razor-sharp onesided leg-o-mutton sleeve. Versace’s glossy petal wrap dress with a chunky gold-tone belt is styled with edgy leather boots (don’t miss out on the gold-tone zip embellishment). Halpern’s metallic shimmer leather dress is alluring with oversized bishop sleeves cape.
PS: Trends that you can skip from 2017: polka dots (let’s leave that for spring) and all- American themed prints and slogans
